Remedy

Remedy, a white rapper tied to the Wu-Tang Clan crew though never an official member of the group itself, was born Ross Filler in 1972 on Staten Island, NY. He started composing songs and poems at seven, and by high school he was already taking the stage as a rapper at local shows. Around that time, performing under the name Remedy, he cut early demos at Northshore Soundworks, the studio associated with EPMD, Das EFX, and Redman. A friendship with Wu-Tang Clan member RZA placed his track “Never Again,” which reflected his Jewish roots and the Holocaust, on the group’s successful 1998 release The Swarm. His debut album, The Genuine Article, surfaced in April 2001; he produced the project in full while RZA handled mixing. A year later Code Red arrived in November and contained a song that conveyed his personal take on the terrorist hijacking of September 11th, 2001.
