Pointedly leftist post-hardcore outfit Report Suspicious Activity originated with Vic Bondi—previously of Articles of Faith, Jones Very, and Alloy—after George W. Bush won re-election as United States President in 2004. As the group’s songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist, Bondi recruited bassist and engineer J. Robbins, who in turn enlisted his Channels bandmate Darren Zentek on drums. The resulting trio aligned with Alternative Tentacles for the self-titled debut album issued in 2005. Guitarist Erik Denno, an earlier collaborator of Zentek’s in Kerosene 454, subsequently joined, and the expanded lineup delivered the EP Dreamland through Underground Communiqué the following year. Two years after that, Alternative Tentacles issued the band’s second full-length, Destroy All Evidence.
