Biography
Restine Jackson has channeled a lifelong passion for both music and faith into building a career as a nationally recognized gospel performer by his early twenties. Born in Detroit, he first took up the piano at age four inside his father’s church. Over time he broadened his skills to encompass singing, songwriting, production, composition, choir direction, and instrumental performance. Those abilities quickly translated into notable achievement, including a gold medal for musical composition at the NAACP’s ACT-SO competition when he was seventeen, earned after he arranged music for a thirty-piece orchestra. He pursued formal training in music education at Morgan State University and appeared with the secular rap ensemble Black Nitrogen. After completing his degree he established and led the gospel choir at Sherwood High School in Montgomery County, Maryland, and serves as a minister at Greater Grace Temple Church in Capitol Heights, Maryland. Whenever his schedule allows, he also cuts studio albums and stages live concerts, activities captured on the 2002 release Praise Party Live in D.C., which blends both studio and concert tracks.
