Biography
Born in Chicago, Rex Allen, Jr. is the offspring of country music performer Rex Allen, who notched seven country successes between 1949 and 1968, the largest being 1953's "Crying in the Chapel," which reached number eight on the pop listings. From the age of six onward Allen Jr. joined his father on the road, later taking up the guitar and eventually serving as a rodeo clown. He shifted to Nashville in the late 1960s, where his own first appearance on the country charts arrived with "The Great Mail Robbery" in 1973, followed by his debut country Top Ten entry via "Two Less Lonely People" in 1977.
