Rezonancia, a quartet rooted in Chilean urban hip-hop, entered a regional scene first shaped by Panteras Negras and La Pozze Latina during the early 1990s. Participants in the La Rez hip-hop collective resolved in 1996 to launch a separate endeavor. DJ Tripio, X Ramírez, Sombra, and Don Margi took the stage together for the first time under the Rezonancia name in 1997. Krater, a Sony Music-affiliated imprint, signed the group, after which the album Zorprezaun was recorded and issued on October 15, 1999.
