Biography
Playboy magazine once hailed her as "One of the Sexiest Stars," and Cable Guide named her "One of Cable's Most Beautiful Women." Her playful ditz routines and sharp send-ups of vintage small-screen icons made her a staple on USA: Up All Night, where she framed the channel’s retro late-night block with offbeat comedy sketches from 1986 through 1994. During those segments she slipped into the personas of Cher, Ginger, Lucy, Jeannie, Alice Kramden, and Mary Tyler Moore, among others. Rhonda Shear also racked up guest spots on Happy Days, The Dukes of Hazzard, and Married...With Children, plus numerous film roles; she earned top billing in Basic Training, Frogtown II, and Tender Loving Care, occasionally stepping in simply as herself. Viewers still recall her affectionate Wrestlemania tribute. Earlier she held the title of Miss Louisiana for a full year. Behind the glamorous exterior stood a sharp mind: after earning a degree from Loyola University she gained admission to law school. She later issued the comedy album Your Bedtime Buddy, whose suggestive title signals that its content is hardly meant for children.
