Richard Bosworth launched his work as a producer and engineer in rock during the early to mid-1980s, collaborating with many of the genre’s most celebrated acts. His technical foundation came from training under figures such as Val Garay, an engineer on recordings by Linda Ronstadt and James Taylor; Peter Asher, who had served as an apprentice to George Martin; and Gary Usher, who co-wrote multiple hits with Brian Wilson while also producing Byrds albums including Younger Than Yesterday, The Notorious Byrd Brothers, and Sweetheart of the Rodeo. An ardent Beatles enthusiast and student of their catalog, Bosworth secured sessions at Abbey Road Studios in London, where chief engineer Ken Townsend passed along methods for recreating the band’s signature recording approaches. Drawing on that background, he established an independent path and contributed to projects by numerous rock and pop performers across the following years. His engineering and production work encompasses Don Henley’s Building the Perfect Beast, the Jacksons’ Victory, Kiss’ Creatures of the Night and Lick It Up, Steve Perry’s Street Talk, Barbra Streisand’s Emotion, Neil Young’s Landing on Water, and Warren Zevon’s Sentimental Hygiene, along with many additional releases. Operating from Los Angeles, CA, Bosworth remains active in the studio.
