Biography
Heuberger turned his back on engineering at twenty-six to commit fully to music. Under Remy's guidance he trained as a musician and went on to lead Vienna's original Academischer Gesangverein. Contributions from his pen appeared in the "Allgemeine Zeitung," and he later established himself as a regular and influential writer for the "Neue freie Presse." Between 1904 and 1906 he also served as editor of "Musikbuch aus Osterreich" and earned widespread recognition for operettas such as "Die Abenteuer einer Neujahrsnacht" and "Manuel Venegas." His most celebrated stage work, "Der Opernball," received productions in both Vienna and the United States.
