Richard Underhill

Richard Underhill launched his career as a founding member of the combo the Shuffle Demons, establishing himself as a Canadian jazz performer, composer, arranger, and sideman. Solo work followed, beginning with the 2002 release of his debut album Tales from the Blue Lounge, which claimed the 2003 Juno Award. A nomination for the Grand Prix at that year's Montreal Jazz Festival came as well. His second album, Moment in Time, appeared in 2005. Critical success met the 2007 release of his third full-length, Kensington Suite, which secured another Juno Award nomination for the 2008 edition of the awards. Additional groups under his direction have included the Richard Underhill Jazz Quintet, Astrogroove, and the Funk Explosion.
