Biography
Gaining his initial musical grounding through performances in a family band, Rickey Woodard went on to study at Tennessee State University before linking up with Ray Charles in 1980. His relocation to Los Angeles in 1988 led to sessions for Concord Records in both leader and sideman roles, direction of multiple quartets, and membership in the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, the Juggernaut, and the Cheathams, complemented by frequent guest appearances.
