Biography
Riley Etheridge, Jr., an Americana singer and songwriter, refined his skills over twenty years in Baton Rouge, Louisiana prior to relocating northward and establishing his base in New York City. Teaming up with producer Wendell Tilley from Nashville, he issued his first independent release, the 2009 album Things I Used to Know. In 2011, he released Powder Keg on Rock Ridge Music as his initial effort with the label, further developing his smooth fusion of blues, R&B, country, and rock elements. 2012 saw the arrival of two projects: the Better Days EP alongside his third album, The Arrogance of Youth. Following these, Etheridge adjusted his approach slightly toward a sound more centered on guitar-driven rock & roll. Once more working with Tilley and bringing in guitarist Shane Theriot, whose credits include Dr. John and the Neville Brothers, he produced 2015's The Straight and Narrow Way, which he viewed as his party album. The Los Angeles recording sessions for The Straight and Narrow Way involved a skilled group of players, among them the renowned drummer Jim Keltner and Sara Watkins, known as the singer and fiddler from Nickel Creek.
