Rings

Originating in the wake of First Nation’s dissolution, Rings aptly embodies the cyclical essence through its trance-evoking and tribal sonic creations. Abby Portner came aboard alongside Kate Rosko and Nina Mehta after Melissa Livaudais exited the lineup. Retaining the First Nation moniker, this trio persisted until Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir, previously of Múm, became part of the ensemble amid sessions for their intended follow-up record. The group adopted Rings as their designation, drawing from the prospective album’s title. Early in 2008, Paw Tracks issued the quartet’s inaugural full-length effort, consisting of "patchworked tranced feminist compositions".
