Biography
Finnish visionary Sasu Ripatti operates under multiple aliases, among them Ripatti Deluxe, while remaining best known as Vladislav Delay and Luomo. Released in 2022, the album Speed Demon presents an ecstatic, chaotic collection shaped by early rave and happy hardcore. Long recognized for his inventive reworkings of dub techno, deep house, and avant-jazz, Sasu Ripatti first issued mutated footwork under the Ripatti name in 2013 and later delivered the full-length Fun Is Not a Straight Line on Planet Mu in 2021. Exposure to early rave and happy hardcore tracks he had not previously encountered led him to generate his own versions, reshaping the material through loops and effects. The first release on his independent Rajaton imprint, Ripatti Deluxe’s Speed Demon surges as a frenetic storm of rapid-fire kick drums and bracing distortion that fuses elements of jungle, gabber, industrial, and grindcore.
