Biography
Drawing inspiration from 1970s punk, hard rock in the vein of the Runaways, and North Mississippi blues, the River City Tanlines emerged in Memphis, Tennessee, after several area bands dissolved. Alicja Trout, a seasoned Memphis songwriter linked to groups such as the Lost Sounds, Destruction Unit, Black Sunday, and Mouserocket, assembled the trio in the early 2000s alongside bassist Terrence Bishop and drummer John Bonds, both veterans of Delta blues collaborations. The resulting fusion of punk-inflected blues and garage rock earned a loyal local following, which the band documented on its self-titled 2005 LP and the 2006 release I'm Your Negative. Trout's commitments to Contaminated Records as well as Black Sunday and Mouserocket took precedence for several years before the trio issued its third album, Coast to Coast, in summer 2012.
