Rob Parton maintains a prominent presence within Chicago's jazz community. He has directed the jazz program at Roosevelt University's Chicago College of Performing Arts ever since 1994. Collaborating with pupils from his department, Parton produced two albums, while also committing to recordings featuring his Jazztech Big Band. The group's discography includes titles such as The Count Is In along with Rob Parton's Jazztech Big Band With Conte Candoli. Performances by this big band have taken place across various festivals, among them the Elkhart Jazz Festival and Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. In his role as a trumpeter, Parton has contributed to recordings and live shows alongside the Milwaukee Symphony as well as the Chicago Symphony. Additional support has come from him for performers including Joe Williams during a tour across Europe, Natalie Cole, Tony Bennett, Doc Severinsen, Mel Torme, Maynard Ferguson, Dionne Warwick, Frank Sinatra Jr., and Maureen McGovern. Furthermore, his trumpet features in promotional spots for McDonald's and Ameritech.
