Beginning in 1981, Frejat launched his musical journey by taking the guitarist slot in the rock outfit Barão Vermelho. Across numerous collaborations he supplied songs to Cazuza, Luís Melodia, Waly Salomão, Antônio Cícero, Arnaldo Antunes, Nando Reis, Chacal, and Gabriel O Pensador. His first production assignment arrived in 1989, when he worked with the punk rock group Inocentes. In 1994 he oversaw the Roberto Carlos tribute CD Rei, which included contributions from Chico Science & Nação Zumbi, Barão Vermelho, Biquíni Cavadão, Skank, and additional acts. The next year he produced the album by the mangue beat collective Jorge Cabeleira e O Dia Em Que Seremos Inúteis. He extended his production work to other artists as well as to his own band, Barão Vermelho. Frejat issued his debut solo album, Amor Pra Recomeçar, in 2001, stepping away from his prior rock & roll direction in pursuit of a more romantic sound.
