Biography
Rockets to Mars originated in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1997, with Jay Hopper contributing guitar and vocals, Mike Breen on guitar, Benson Wright on drums, and Brad Quinn on bass. Drawing from the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and Big Star, the group developed a power pop approach that has drawn comparisons to Hüsker Dü and Matthew Sweet. They first documented this style with the CD-single Among the Stars, issued by Lunch Records in 1999, before issuing the album Underneath the Half-Light two years afterward.
