Roger James earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Colorado State University. Private lessons with acclaimed performers Wendel Diebel and Bill Douglas sharpened both his technical skills and his spiritually focused sound, an accomplishment recognized when he received the Creative and Performing Arts Award for Composition. While developing original works, he also functioned as musical director and pianist for theatrical productions of “A Chorus Line” and “Beehive,” provided accompaniment for a range of other performers, and taught temporarily at the School for the Performing Arts in Hamilton, Bermuda. His first solo album, Voyage, appeared on Hapi Skratch in 2000; he followed it with Music of the Prophets, presenting the earliest contemporary settings of melodies drawn from the Hebrew Bible. James is likewise the author of the book “Music, Spirit and the Keys to Prophecy,” which documents previously unrecognized connections between biblical prophecy and musicology, and he maintains an active performance schedule throughout the Denver, Colorado region.
