Biography
Roly Daniels, born in Jubbulpore, India, and raised in Dublin, Ireland, ranks among the foremost country and western guitarists and vocalists working in his adopted homeland. Irish World newspapers presented him with a lifetime achievement award, and his recordings include the hits “Hello Darling,” “The Fighting Side Of Me,” “Sunny Tennessee,” “He Stopped Loving Her Today,” and “Mr. Jones.”
After limiting his public appearances throughout the early 1990s, Daniels rejoined the concert circuit via the touring revue Hucklebuckin’ Again, sharing the stage with Brendan Bowyer and Butch Moore. The show also featured siblings Keith McDonald on trumpet and Lorraine McDonald on saxophone and flute, together with their ensemble, the Showband Show. Once the tour ended, he resumed regular performances alongside Big Chief (Flaming Star) and the Showband Show.
His career began with the Memphis Showband and later continued with the Nevada Showband. He remains one of the leading international country and western entertainers associated with Nashville, Tennessee.
