Ron Boots, whose surname is pronounced like "boats," ranks among the planet's foremost synthesists and stands as the preeminent electronic musician in the Netherlands. Alongside Kees Aerts—pronounced "case arts"—he co-owns Groove Unlimited, an influential electronic music label that also ranks among the globe's top distributors of all varieties of such recordings. His entry into the recording field occurred in 1987, when he produced the demo Linear Waves in a run of just nine copies. Later that same year, Dream Weaver marked his first official album. Both that title and his remaining cassette-only works received remastering treatment for the six-CD collection The 80s Box, which appeared in 2000 and included a booklet filled with detailed liner notes plus career highlights. Across his trajectory, Boots has issued 35 solo and joint albums while adding tracks to 30 various-artist collections and compilations. His approach merges intricate synthesizer sequences with expansive, atmospheric textures. A tireless live performer and event organizer, he has earned recognition as an indispensable ally to fellow electronic artists.
