Roni Ben-Hur

Roni Ben-Hur, a guitarist steeped in bop, left Israel for the United States in 1985. From that point forward he forged a close association with pianist Barry Harris, whose trio can be heard on the guitarist’s 1994 TCB album Backyard; he also made frequent use of pianist Chris Anderson within his own quartet and wed vocalist Amy London, a partnership that yielded the Fivecat release Two for the Road. Along the way Ben-Hur collaborated with Bill Doggett, George Kelly, Gene Bertoncini, and Ralph Lalama. Possessing a swinging and appealing approach to the instrument, he has maintained a parallel and vigorous role as a jazz educator.
