Biography
Ronnie McCoury lent his virtuosic mandolin playing to a hefty number of recordings and achieved his greatest impact upon entering his father Del’s band in the dual role of singer and instrumentalist, a move that also led to a 1995 duo album with brother Rob on Rounder. National exposure arrived via the Del McCoury Band’s partnership with renegade country-rocker Steve Earle on 1998’s The Mountain and the subsequent tour, prompting Ronnie to cut his first true solo album, Heartbreak Town, issued in spring 2000. The children’s bluegrass jamboree Little Mo’ McCoury followed in 2007.
