Biography
Originating in Cincinnati, the roots rock ensemble Rosavelt later established itself in Cleveland, OH, where it claimed Best Rock Band honors at the city’s local music awards on two occasions. Their style frequently leans on pronounced twang. The band’s debut album, Carp & Bones, appeared in 1996. Initially operating as a trio shaped by the melodic songcraft of Kevin Grasha and Chris Allen, Rosavelt expanded into a larger lineup for the more direct rock sound of Transistor Blues. The group has also toured as backing musicians for fellow Ohio native and singer/songwriter Tim Easton. Critics have linked their work to earlier artists such as the Replacements, Wilco, and Joe Henry.
