Biography
Indie threesome Rose Dorn blends twang and melancholy into the unhurried, self-produced folk-rock numbers they create at home. Their first recordings preceded the arrival of their opening full-length release, 2019’s Days You Were Leaving, by two years.
The group assembled in Los Angeles in March 2017 after singer/guitarist Scarlet Knight sought support for a D.I.Y. show. An acquaintance pointed her toward longtime friends and multi-instrumentalists Jamie Coster and Joey Dalla Betta. Speak Later, the trio’s initial EP, appeared that July. One year later they issued the three-track collection Call Her. Rose Dorn subsequently joined the Bar/None Records roster, delaying the release of Days You Were Leaving until August 2019 so Knight could finish high school. Engineer Phil Hartunian, who records as Follies, produced the album in the same manner as the two earlier EPs and supplied bass on most of its tracks.
