Biography
Hailing from Los Angeles, alternative singer-songwriter Rosie Tucker shapes melodic, reflective guitar pop that conjures vivid everyday moments and feelings. Their minimalist opening effort, Lowlight, surfaced in 2015, after which they began collaborating regularly with a core backing ensemble for concerts and later releases such as the 2021 third album Sucker Supreme.
A native Angeleno, Tucker studied at the University of Southern California and obtained a Bachelor of Music. While enrolled there, they issued the self-released Lowlight in 2015, a collection of acoustic-guitar pieces tracked alongside producer Casey Barth (Kacy Hill, Julia Michaels).
Over the ensuing years Tucker played bass and contributed songs to the post-rock outfit Gypsum in addition to maintaining a solo career. They adopted electric instruments ahead of the fuller-sounding Never Not Never Not Never Not, helmed by Wolfy and featuring guitarist Anna Arboles plus drummer Jessica Reed; the set appeared on New Professor Music in 2019. Although not their initial exploration of queer themes, the track “Gay Bar” resonated widely and accumulated hundreds of thousands of streams.
Two years afterward the third studio album reunited Wolfy, now credited for production and bass, along with drummer Reed while adding guitarist Jess Kallen. Issued as Sucker Supreme, the record represented Tucker’s first outing on Epitaph.
