Biography
Emerging from Birmingham, England, the husky-voiced MC RoxXxan first drew notice through her sharp, forceful rhymes layered over live sets by dubstep, grime, and drum’n’bass DJs. After Mike Skinner, performing as the Streets, threw his support behind her, she landed a contract with Polydor. Her initial official appearance arrived on the Shank soundtrack via the cut “Heavyweight.” During that same stretch she also featured on the Streets’ Cyberspace and Reds mixtape, even as work on her debut album progressed.
