Hailing from Lafayette, Louisiana, Roy Gonzales performed as both guitarist and vocalist in the Cajun tradition throughout the 1920s. French-language interpretations of Jimmie Rodgers material formed part of his repertoire. He supplied studio accompaniment for John Bertrand in 1929, yet released just two recordings under his own name, one being his take on Rodgers’ “Waiting For A Train.”
