Biography
Originating from South Central Los Angeles, the vocal trio RPM 2000—Lamar Sampson, Avery Scott, and Ronnell Davis—rose out of conditions of poverty and gang activity before shifting focus to music. The three singers eventually joined forces, drawing the interest of Michael Concepcion and securing a deal with his Grand Jury Entertainment production company in 1996. After Concepcion refined their sound, Warner Bros. records issued the group’s debut album, Peace in the City, in July 2000.
