Rudy Cipolla

Rudy Cipolla, a mandolinist born in Italy, performs folk and bluegrass infused with continental influences that blend elements from America, Europe, and the East. Residing in San Fransisco, he has cultivated notable connections within bluegrass communities, such as with David Grisman, who contributed to two standout albums by Cipolla: Portrait of an American Original from 1997 and Mandolin Maestro released in 1999. His acquaintance with Bob Bruen led to an enduring partnership and facilitated his meeting with Grisman. Both parties benefited from these relationships, enhancing the visibility of Cipolla's output while admirers examined his unique approach to picking and composition. Contributions from associates including Evan Marshall, Radim Zenkl, Kaila Flexor, and Third Ear feature on his recordings, solidifying his standing and impact within the realm of progressive bluegrass.
