Biography
Emerging later amid the vibrant Minneapolis post-punk landscape, Run Westy Run counted among the scene’s subsequent acts. The group never matched the popularity or influence of contemporaries such as Hüsker Dü, the Replacements, and Soul Asylum, owing in part to the extended time needed to cultivate a style recognizably their own. Although they drew from blues, rock, country, folk, and punk, only afterward did these strands merge into a sound clearly defined as theirs, even while marked by ongoing inventiveness.
