Biography
British singer/songwriter Rupert Blackman first attracted the notice of popular Dutch vocalist Anouk during a street performance in Amsterdam. He had relocated to The Netherlands in 2008, where he soon began composing material alongside a group of musicians and issued the self-released EP If You Only Knew the next year. Anouk’s subsequent invitation to appear with her on a nationwide theater tour was withdrawn, yet reports of their connection had already generated widespread interest. As a result, Blackman performed across the country alongside Beth Hart, Sabrina Starke, and Valerius. In 2013 he signed with PIAS Records, and his debut album The Lights of Home appeared the same year. Produced by Martijn Groeneveld in Utrecht, the acoustic guitar-led songs met with strong approval throughout The Netherlands.
