Biography
Originating as a serendipitous occurrence, Rusty Truck materialized in 1998 once celebrity photographer Mark Seliger decided to experiment with songwriting purely for its own sake. Drawing on his wide-ranging contacts throughout the entertainment industry, Seliger found encouragement from Jakob Dylan, Sheryl Crow, and comparable voices to transform the impulse into a concrete musical project. Seliger joined forces with drummer Joey Peters (Grant Lee Buffalo), guitarist Michael Duff (Chalk FarM), lap steel player Andy Gibson (Hank Williams III), bassist Sheldon Gomberg, guitarist Ben Peeler, and vocalist Kristin Mooney to finalize the ensemble, which secured a deal with Coda Terra in 2001. The resulting debut album, Broken Promises, arrived in fall 2003 and incorporated guest appearances from Lenny Kravitz, Gillian Welch, and further rock & roll favorites. Luck's Changing Lanes appeared in 2008.
