Biography
Born into a household filled with music, Ruth Cameron initially gravitated toward acting and appeared on stages across North America and Europe. Marriage to jazz bassist Charlie Haden prompted a shift in direction; she stepped in as his manager and helped assemble the group Quartet West. She further contributed by co-producing numerous recordings issued under her husband’s name. Both Haden and friend Jeri Southern urged her to explore singing, so she began training with vocal coach Sue Raney. The seven-track EP First Songs appeared in July 1999, and her first full-length album, Roadhouse, followed in October 2000.
