Biography
London-born Joy first rose to attention through her songwriting and vocals on the 1987 crossover hit ‘House Arrest’ by Sheffield outfit Krush, prompting widespread comparisons to the ‘new Neneh Cherry’. Three years of further labour and multiple discarded producers were still required, however, before her opening solo album finally appeared. Mantronix oversaw her initial standalone single ‘Don’t Push It’, with additional input from Loose Ends’ Carl McIntosh and Aswad. ‘Feel’ and ‘Pride And Joy’ were among the tracks lifted from the collection.
