Magdolna Rúsza, who performs under the name Magdi, entered the world on 28 November 1985 as a Serbian native before settling in Hungary and establishing herself as a pop vocalist. Despite the surrounding controversy, Hungarian officials selected her in 2006 to stand for the country at the Eurovision Song Contest the following year in Helsinki. Early on she tested her abilities in local contests such as Ki Mit Tud and the 2004 Lira Pop Festival, while also fronting the ensemble Madness. Public recognition arrived after her run on the 2006 edition of Megasztár, which placed her on the accompanying finalists’ album and turned her into a familiar figure nationwide. A live recording then entered the Hungarian Top Ten in 2008, and she launched her debut concert tour the previous year.
