Biography
R&B trio Rydaznrtist surfaced in 2010 by merging vintage grooves with an audacious streak that echoed the post-R. Kelly era, introducing themselves through tracks such as “Sorry Ass Apology” and “Climax Instructions.” The members originated from North Carolina and Detroit, coming together as a unit in 2008 once producer Kevin Writer started collaborating with vocalist Reuben. Rapper GQ Ryda completed the roster toward the end of that year, after which the group quickly secured a deal with Nick Cannon’s NCredible Entertainment label and agency. Mid-2009 saw the release of their Strip Club Music mixtape, which marked the initial exposure of the underground favorite “Sorry Ass Apology” and also included the club cut “Best Night.” A follow-up mixtape titled Sunday Music appeared late that same year. Early 2010 brought an opening slot on the Angels Advocate Tour alongside Trey Songz and Mariah Carey. Once the tour concluded, the trio moved to Def Jam, prompting an immediate mainstream rollout of the “Sorry Ass Apology” single.
