Biography
Musician and social media personality Evan Fong first built his reputation as VanossGaming through video game commentary, climbing to the forefront of online creators before redirecting his focus to electronic pop songwriting under the name Rynx. His initial foray arrived with the 2017 single "Want You" featuring Miranda Glory, alongside remix contributions to tracks by THEY., Sasha Sloan, Gallant, and Alison Wonderland.
Born and raised in Toronto to Korean and Chinese parents, Fong enjoyed an ordinary upbringing that led to college studies, which he suspended to devote attention to his expanding video game commentary work. Beginning in September 2011, he posted videos under the VanossGaming banner, and by 2015 the channel had surpassed ten million subscribers. Although guitar had long served as a pastime, his move into music did not occur until 2017, when he delivered a wobbly remix of THEY.'s "U-Rite." His solo debut, "Want You" with Miranda Glory, followed later that year. The similarly styled "I'm Alright" with Jimi Ono arrived in 2018, preceding remixes of Gallant's "Doesn't Matter," Sasha Sloan's "Normal" with JayKode, and Alison Wonderland's "Cry," the last of which showcased Fong's electric guitar. By 2019 he released his third solo single, "Hold On," which returned him to his starting point through guest vocals from THEY.'s Drew Love.
