Biography
Andrew Pekler, a multi-instrumentalist now based in Berlin after being born in Uzbekistan and growing up in California, helms the Sad Rockets project. The eclectic influences stemming from his varied origins find expression in the music he creates within his home studio, blending elements of rock, funk, and electronica alongside cinematic qualities and witty undertones. The project's inaugural effort arrived in 1998 via the Source label under the title Plays, with Pekler issuing Once Upon a Time Called Now on Morbid the following year. Transition marked the third Sad Rockets album, appearing on Matador during the autumn of 2000. Pekler maintains involvement in other groups as well, including the electronic and lounge-oriented Bergheim 34 and the rock ensemble Mucus 2.
