Biography
Formed in the aftermath of the shoegazer rock outfit the Nightblooms' dissolution, Safe Home crafts electro-acoustic folk-pop that balances beauty with enigma. Vocalist Esther Sprikkelman headed back to the Netherlands following the split, planning a permanent exit from the music industry. Yet new song concepts soon occupied her thoughts, prompting a partnership with the Nightblooms' guitarist Harry Otten; she penned the lyrics while the pair jointly composed the music. Establishing a home studio, the duo enlisted producer and multi-instrumentalist Steve Mitchell to capture their fresh material during off-hours. Safe Home issued their inaugural CD EP, Travel in Time, during spring 2001, followed by five 7" vinyl singles on the Angels In Space imprint they founded for the balance of that year. May 2002 saw the release of their debut full-length, You Can't Undo What's Already Undid, which merged select cuts from those singles alongside additional songs.
