Salatiel

Salatiel Livenja Bessong, known professionally by the mononym Salatiel, first gained attention in 2014 as a Cameroonian producer, singer, and rapper whose work draws from Afro-pop, hip-hop, dancehall, and soul traditions. Raised in Tiko as the son of a pastor, he cultivated his musical interests through church performances. At seventeen he joined Buea’s M1 Studios as a pianist, singer, and songwriter. Subsequent collaborations yielded numerous hit recordings with Cameroonian artists such as Mr. Leo, Daphne, Askia, and Blaise B. In 2019 he appeared on the Beyoncé-curated soundtrack for The Lion King: The Gift. He also serves as founder and CEO of Alpha Better Records.
