Biography
Sali Sidibe ranks among Mali's foremost vocalists thanks to her bold neo-traditional delivery over a distinctive fusion of didai, sigui, and sogonikun dance rhythms. Her earliest singles, cut in the 1960s, helped establish the foundations of the Wassoulou style that flowered in the 1980s. Along with her 1993 solo outing Wassoulou Foli, Sidibe joined the London to Africa All Stars for the album Whirl-Y-Waves.
