Biography
In 1959 the smooth R&B singer Sammy Turner placed classy remakes of the standards "Lavender Blue" and "Always" on the pop charts. Under contract to Big Top Records and supported by the lush production of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, he scored another hit with "Paradise" in 1960. Later in the decade Turner surfaced on the Motown roster.
