Sapo

Sapo came together in the United States in 1974, built around the contributions of Richard Bean on vocals and Raul Rekow on bass and percussion, both former members of Malo. Completing the roster were Jose Simon, Bobby Gaviola, Kincaid Miller, and Oscar Estralla, whose performances centered on the Latin-flavoured rock sound that had characterized the founders’ earlier band and Santana. Following the group’s dissolution, Bean and Rekow joined Santana. Bean and Miller later participated in the Jorge Santana Band, the groove-driven outfit that Malo’s founder launched in 1978.
