Born in Mississippi and raised in New Orleans, where music filled her teenage years, Sara Bug acquired her surname from an early nickname tied to her small stature. She relocated to Nashville in 2013, an unsettled shift she captured in journals that later supplied the core material for her debut album. In the mid-2010s she worked in New York’s fashion industry before moving back south in 2016.
