Biography
Originating from Houston, Satyn's Children built their music around an appealing twelve-string guitar whose chiming tone recalled the Byrds, though the band attacked their material more aggressively and featured a drummer who drove the songs with unrestrained force. An organist in the lineup could take over the ensemble's texture on "Turn Me Away," pushing that track toward the heavier side of garage punk in the manner of the Music Machine at full throttle. Two demos the group cut for Sea Ell Records reveal that vocal harmonies were never a strong suit, yet the musicians offset this shortcoming with abundant raw energy. "Should I Cry" carries a loose resemblance to the Searchers' "What Have The Done to the Rain."
