Biography
Scott Herren, widely recognized under the Prefuse 73 moniker for his left-field productions, launched Savath & Savalas in 1998 as an outlet for his instrumental and acoustic leanings. The project's opening full-length, Folk Songs for Trains, Trees and Honey, surfaced in 2000 as an experimental release steeped in glitch textures. Rolls and Waves, an EP, appeared in 2002. Apropa't arrived in 2004 with a markedly folk-oriented sound and vocal contributions from Catalan singer Eva Puyuelo, an artist Herren encountered while based in Spain. Golden Pollen followed in 2007, spotlighting several tracks performed solely by the producer and instrumentalist, plus guest appearances from Mia Doi Todd and Jose Gonzalez. Two years later La Llama emerged as the next full statement after Apropa't, bringing in Ecuadoran Roberto Carlos Lange, who arrived via Florida, as an additional collaborator.
