Say ZuZu

The Portsmouth, New Hampshire, roots-rock band Say Zuzu crafts energetic, melody-driven songs that frequently land in the alt-country category. Despite scant commercial traction in the United States during the mid-1990s, the group unexpectedly developed a loyal audience in Italy once their 1995 album Highway Signs & Driving Songs reached an editor at Milan’s Buscadero rock magazine. That editor became an ardent supporter and devoted substantial coverage to both Highway Signs & Driving Songs and the 1997 follow-up Take These Turns. Say Zuzu seized the unexpected momentum with a full-scale Italian tour in 1997, then returned to the studio for the 1998 release Bull and issued a live collection the following year.
