Royal Oak, Michigan metal group Scorch sets itself apart through its distinctive lineup of three drummers—Dave Arvo, Shawn Farrell, and Todd Wolfe—who support the multifaceted Russ Meuchel handling vocals, guitar, bass, songwriting, and production duties. Blending elements that fall between death metal and nu-metal while incorporating additional influences, with traces of power metal surfacing at times, the ensemble handled every stage of its first full-length release, Faces, from production through recording and distribution in 2003.
