Biography
Guitarist and composer Scott Fields participated in Chicago's free jazz community during the 1960s and the opening years of the 1970s. An extended period away from performance ended with his return in 1990, at which point his priorities had shifted toward greater attention to composition and structure. Funding from multiple sources, among them the Wisconsin Arts Board, supported his work throughout the 1990s, during which he also wrote pieces for choreographers such as Li Chiao-Ping and Kristy Sesso. A trio with Francois Houle and Jason Lee Roebke came together in 1999, and the group issued its debut album, Hornet's Collage, on Nuscope before the year was out. Mamet and 96 Gestures appeared in early 2001.
