Biography
Peter Runge, who grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, records as Sd Laika; his tracks have been labeled "new grime," echoing Wiley's densely blipped instrumentals yet reshaped for enclosed, post-apocalyptic spaces instead of club play. The producer's earliest outing, Unknown Vectors, surfaced in 2012 as a digital-only EP on Visionist's Lost Codes label, its tone veering between desolation and dark comedy, sometimes occupying both registers at once. Interest from Tri Angle prompted the 2014 appearance of That's Harakiri, Runge's first full album, whose metallic clatter and abrasive scrapes were assembled from sessions spanning the prior two years.
